Rev. Morris W. Hudgins

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Sunday was a very special day from morning to night. I thank you for the generous gift to the Partner Church Council. Your gift will help the growth of Unitarian Universalism around the world. Thank you for the cake, and the cards. I will cherish them. I also thank those who attended the Vigil for the people of Charleston. It was a very powerful service. I especially thank Rev. Carol for her coordination and leadership.

I have a confession to make. Early Sunday morning a young person came up to me and said: “There’s a cake in the kitchen. Is it your birthday?” I said, “No, I am retiring. Today will be my last day at Westside this summer. Secrets are hard to keep. I thought it was hilarious.

Marti and I will be off to Atlanta this weekend for our granddaughter’s third birthday. I told you recently Elizabeth learned the meaning of the word “amazing.” She thought the deer and the blue heron at Tellico were amazing. I am sure this weekend will be amazing as well.

In July we will be off to the Southeast UU Summer Institute at Virginia Tech. Then off to Williamsburg, Virginia for a service and to see friends. Then back to Tennessee. I hope to harvest some tomatoes, play some golf and enjoy our home. I also plan to do some writing. I have been asked to be the chaplain at the Southeast UU Winter Institute in Florida after Christmas.

Marti and I wish you all the best in the future and we look forward to seeing you again. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Rev. Morris Hudgins
