The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an IRS-sanctioned initiative where volunteers help eligible individuals prepare and file their tax returns for free. In 2025, volunteers at our church prepared 304 returns, assisting many in our community, including 199 taxpayers over the age of 60. These efforts resulted in taxpayers receiving $117,000 in refunds from the federal government, largely due to the child tax credit.
