Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an IRS-sanctioned initiative where volunteers help eligible individuals prepare and file their tax returns for free. In 2025, volunteers at our church prepared 304 returns, assisting many in our community, including 199 taxpayers over the age of 60. These efforts resulted in taxpayers receiving $117,000 in refunds from the federal government, largely due to the child tax credit. If you are interested in helping people navigate their taxes and secure the refunds they are entitled to, visit our contact us page to learn how you can become an IRS-certified tax preparer. On the form, indicate that you would like to know more about volunteering for VITA. We will forward your email to our VITA coordinator.
