Making Caring Connections

We are in the process of laying the foundation for our Caring Connections Committee and I recently came across a quote from Mahatma Gandhi that really struck a chord with me. The quote is "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others". How can one be of service to others? Well, I see so many people around Westside UU openly give their time and energy in the service of others and I find it to be incredibly inspirational.

The Caring Connections Committee is forming to be a supportive organization for the Westside congregation community. We need folks who would like to make a difference for others in the Westside UU community. We will be helping others with such things as providing a ride to someone in need, sending a card to a member who may be in need, calling or checking in with a member who may be unable to attend service(s), assisting to set up and/or clean before and after coffee hour, assisting with various Westside UU gathering events, etc., etc., etc…

There are people who frequently give of their time and energy for the benefit of others at Westside UU every single day. I find that magnetic as well as inspirational. In my eyes, those folks are producing positive waves and positive ripples out of their love for others. These positive acts born from love for others is the root of the Caring Connections Committee.
