Building Connection Through Music
Friends, we’ve talked before about how music builds community, encourages collaboration, and creates connection. I’m pleased to announce that we will ALL get to share in this musical phenomenon on Sunday, July 31 for ALL MUSIC SUNDAY!
Using suggestions from within our community, we’ll build a service that weaves our voices, instrumentalists, percussion, and more into a tapestry of sound to leave you feeling better connected to our community. Curious about how we’ll tie it all together? You’ll have to join us to find out!
The first step in planning for our ALL MUSIC SUNDAY service is YOU. This service is a reflection of our entire community. So, whether you enjoy performing music for our congregation or just have a favorite hymn you’d like to hear, whether you’re new to Westside or a founding member, whether you’re in kindergarten or retirement or something in between -- YOU are a part of creating our service.
Between now and July 1, email me your suggestions on songs you’d like to perform or songs/hymns you’d like to hear. The songs should fit our service theme of connection, collaboration, cooperation, and communication. We will weave what we can into the service and, if the ideas overflow the space of one service, we’ll use them for music programming at other times during the church year.
Everyone is encouraged to send in suggestions! Don’t have email? Feel free to put suggestions in the music box in the church office.
I hope you’ll join me in crafting an ALL MUSIC SUNDAY that is uniquely Westside and fosters a deep sense of connection to our church community and the wider world. Mark your calendar for July 31 to come and build connection, collaboration, and cooperation in our community through music!
What are you waiting for? Email your ideas to me at music@westsideuuc.org no later than July 1.
Make a joyful noise! Anne
