By Michele Neifing, Aesthetics Committee

Even if you are not on the Aesthetics Committee there is a good chance you may have contributed to improving the aesthetics at Westside. Have you made decorating suggestions, helped decorate the sanctuary for special occasions, loaned artwork for the gallery, joined one of the organizing clean up days or assisted in improving the appearance inside or outside of Westside in other ways? If yes, please consider yourself an honorary member of the Aesthetics Committee.

Here are some current and future projects where we could use your help:

We change the artwork in the Westside gallery several times a year. We love displaying original artwork created by our members and friends, as well as other interesting artwork you might have in your possession.

Do you have renovation or cabinet making skills? The storage area behind the curtain in the sanctuary, the front office and one of the classrooms could use some help in improving their aesthetics and functionality.

If you are interested in submitting a piece or pieces of art for the gallery or helping with a renovation project, please contact Judith Finer or me.

A fun art project underway is creating nature-themed whimsical dancing sprite sculptures to welcome you to Westside. They will be located outside close to the front entrance. Please contact Dave Goforth if you would like to participate in the fun and creativity.

Do you enjoy working outside? Building and Grounds can use your help with the ongoing playground improvements and as Jerry Thornton mentioned in his recent blog, help is always needed to make the grounds beautiful and provide native wildlife habitat. Dave is also planning a project to improve the safety and appearance of a walkway to the Memorial Garden. If interested in helping with any of these Building and Grounds activities, please contact Jerry or Dave.

As you can see, enhancing aesthetics at Westside involves many individuals and stretches across multiple committees. Please contact Judith or me if you are interested in more information.
